MEET THE DIRECTORS
Janet Dickson (right) recently retired as the music teacher at Waterford DHS, where she directed 17 musicals including Footloose, Music Man, and Wizard of Oz. After experience on the SLT stage in Sound of Music, Nunsense 1 and 2, and Race Day, she bravely agreed to direct adults in White Christmas 2023. It was a huge success and now she is back for more fun!
Joanne Pond (left) is a retired elementary school teacher. Saying yes to her first theatre experience when Janet asked her to help with White Christmas, was a step into adventure and exciting challenges. Joanne had directed many children’s church musicals in the past, and now has a love for adult theatre. Joanne is assistant director and stage manager for this show.
“Nice Work if You Can Get It” follows Janet and Joanne’s desire to present family friendly shows that are entertaining and will make you laugh. This one features bootleggers and flappers from the 1920’s, a female heroine, and a plot twist you won’t see coming! It is full of jazzy music by George and Ira Gershwin, and using sound tracks to get the full jazz sound without overpowering the singers. The cast of 22 people began rehearsals in September.
